Chiropractic Practice: The Art of Doctoring and its Impact on Your Practice

Welcome to this week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Masters Circle Global, where legends are made and legendary practices are built through chiropractic coaching. And today I want to discuss the art of doctoring and its impact on your practice. So let me ask, do you know? that there is something called the art of doctoring.

And did you ever learn or even hear about it when you were in school? I certainly didn’t and I bet you didn’t either. I want to tell you right up front that the art of doctoring isn’t about diagnosing or analyzing what’s wrong with your patient or where they’re subluxated or what condition they may have.

The art of doctoring is also not about what chiropractic technique you use or how you adjust or even the frequency of your adjustments. So what is it then? Well, the art of doctoring is based on two key and equally important concepts. The first concept is customization. It is beyond essential to customize your care plan, your recommendations, how often you adjust the patient, where you adjust the patient.

What technologies you recommend, what lifestyle recommendations you make, how you communicate with the patient, and the list goes on and on. Get this one size does not fit all it’s never been that way and it never will be that way It’s wrong to just get lazy and fall into the trap of just doing the same thing over and over again Because it seems to work or to recommend the same schedule of care to all your patients or to adjust the same No matter what your patient is or what condition they may have You must be willing to let go of the past to embrace the present and prepare for the future.

Customization is one of the secrets to the art of doctoring, and the second part is compliance. We all thought that the patient would hold themselves accountable for being compliant and following your recommendations because they had the most to gain and the most to lose. But we’ve all come to realize.

that most patients do not hold themselves accountable or compliant. And guess what? That is now your job and your responsibility if you’re wanting to be a serious player, care about your reputation, and want to get the best possible clinical results. So get this no matter how amazing your clinical skills are, regardless of how many postgraduate certifications of accomplishment you’ve earned.

If your patient doesn’t follow your recommendations, the odds are they’re not going to get the best results. And if they don’t get the best results, Guess what? They always blame the same person, and I can tell you who that is. It’s you. How do you know if your patients are following your recommendations and sticking to your schedule of care?

Do your patients make up missed visits? What do you do when a patient has a setback, a flare up, or has missed a chunk of time in your office and lost whatever healing momentum they may have had? Do you have systems in place? to monitor their compliance and course correct when and if necessary. The art of doctoring is totally based on constant customization and complete compliance with each and every patient.

This is most likely not occurring in your office. You may not even believe that this is possible. But I can assure you that many of the doctors in our program are masters in the art of doctoring and continue to lead the field, be best in class and shatter practice records year after year. This is not only good doctoring, but a powerful way to recession proof and future proof your practice.

This is a significant shift from treating problems to treating people, a shift from crisis care to health and wellness care that all people want and deserve. This occurs with a shift first in your thinking so your patients can get what they want and what they deserve to be fully alive and have optimal health.

It’s good doctoring because all patients should have customized care that is created for their unique and individual needs and circumstances. And because every patient wants to be held more accountable and to be more compliant in order to get the most amazing miracles in your office. They’re sick and tired of being sick and tired and hoping that you finally found the answer and the solution to them.

When you commit to and master the art of doctoring, I assure you, it will transform your practice, grow your numbers, improve your results, enhance your reputation and drive your income. This allows you to take the patient way past less or no pain to ongoing care to achieve optimal neurological expression, living their best life, and aging gracefully.

It also creates lifetime patients, which should always be your big time goal. How awesome would your practice be if patients wanted to be in your office, look forward to your care? totally trusted you and realized that continue with your care way past pain was one of the smartest decisions they could ever make.

Remember that pain is not the problem. It just indicates that you have a problem and eliminating pain doesn’t make a person healthy. It just gives them a false impression that they’re thinking that they’re healthy. And how amazing would your practice be if you were able to charge and collect a significantly higher fee for your services and patients gladly paid that fee because you created such tremendous value?

And how would you feel if these same lifetime patients referred their friends, family, coworkers, neighbors to you because of the remarkable and predictable results they got with you? Remember to have what only 5 percent of the best in class in our profession has, you must be willing to do what the other 95 percent are unwilling to do.

And remember that consistency is the key. Consistency is the mother of mastery. Quite frankly, the six essentials should always be part of your training, your practice model, and how you run your practice.
