Dear Doctor,
Many doctors mistakenly think that the end of the year is a time when business slows down, but statistics demonstrate the exact opposite – holiday time is a busy time in chiropractic offices, and it makes sense for you to expect and prepare for your practice to boom over the next six weeks.
Maybe it’s because it’s a stressful time for people, or maybe it’s just a way for them to give themselves a little while they’re buying presents for everyone else, but if you invest a bit of effort in getting their attention, you’ll find that your neighbors are in the mood and ready to spend some of their time, energy and capital on wellness services that improve the quality of their lives.
That’s why savvy chiropractic entrepreneurs plan events and promotions around this season. Not only does it do a lot of good for patients, improving public relations, but it also capitalizes on the many marketing opportunities that are naturally built in to the times.
For example, if you want to run a promotion that helps to feed those less fortunate while encouraging new people to discover chiropractic, you can sponsor a food drive for Thanksgiving, where you offer services in exchange for donations. For the year-end holidays, a toy drive or hat and coat collection program can help many needy people, and also introduce people to the miraculous healing benefits chiropractic is famous for. As the winter weather approaches, you could produce a safe snow-shoveling or a winter sports clinic, or you could conduct a seminar on how to carry the fruits of your holiday shopping without hurting yourself in the process.
could hold a raffle for a stocking filled with toys and games, and develop a mailing list of families for your wellness newsletter. You could start an essay contest about New Year’s Resolutions on health and wellness. You could create gift certificate programs so your patients can give the gift of health to their friends, families and co-workers. Use your imagination, and you’ll come up with lots of fun and valuable ideas to make the holiday season not only uplifting, but also productive.
There’s another important benefit to assertively seeking opportunities to serve during this season. Emotions run high at this time of year, and we all know how chiropractic care helps people defuse their stresses. I can’t count the number of patients who reported that adjustments helped them to cope more effectively with the duress and hardships they faced, both through safeguarding their bodies from the negative impact of stress, and by promoting feelings of wellbeing that caused them to address their issues better and with more clarity.
Please be generous, and give of yourself in this way. You can affect hundreds or thousands of people in your community, and let chiropractic care open up the door of possibility for them. That’s how most people are exposed to chiropractic care – through direct contact with a chiropractor or an enthusiastic chiropractic patient.
Show them you really care, and give a gift that keeps on giving – the gift of awareness, and the tools to make their lives better. And while you’re at it, why not set some goals on the number of people you’d like to positively influence during this holiday season, and find out how much good you can do.
