Chiropractic Coaching: Hidden Friction in Your 6 Essential Growth Strategies

Welcome to this Week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Masters Circle Global where legends are made and legendary practices are built through chiropractic coaching. Today I want to discuss the hidden friction in the six essentials and how it affects your practice. As we’ve discussed previously, today’s most successful business model is based primarily on six essential concepts, and yet 99% of our profession is unaware of any of these or how they support or dramatically interfere with your ability to run and grow your practice. These six essential concepts have all become crystal clear to us as a result of the changes in today’s consumer’s need, what their needs and wants are from living in the information age. And as a result of what all of us have gone through with Covid and the media bombarding us 24 4 hours a day, seven days a week for over two years.

Medicine reasserted itself and the mechanistic model reasserted itself as the model of choice to follow for millions of patients and potential patients. And the fear of dying has also forced us to decide to stop living, and it’s completely changed today’s consumer and how you should be practicing chiropractic if you believe that the world hasn’t changed that much and how you should run your practice is mostly the same as it’s always been. Well, you’re gonna be running a race with a hundred pound weight around your leg and swimming upstream against the current and making it much harder to grow and much harder to make an impact or an income to remind you, the six essentials are number one, friction, number two, pricing with fees based on your value. Number three is clinic operations and implementation. Number four is becoming a passion brand. Number five is persuasion.

And finally number six is getting inside the head of the decision maker. Today we’re going to dive deeper, much deeper into the first essential, which is the hidden friction interfering with the normal, natural and organic growth of your practice. And to remind you, friction is anything that slows down, disrupts or prevents the organic and natural growth of your business. Friction is also what causes your patients to question or resists starting care or following through with your care plan. The two most significant types of friction come from the doctor and from the patient’s perspective. From the doctor’s perspective, you may be inconsistent or struggle to attract enough new patients or even the right kind of new patients that would flourish and thrive in your practice and bring you joy and prosperity. Or perhaps your friction comes from not holding the patient compliant and hoping or assuming that the patient will do the right thing and be responsible for their own health patients not following through on your recommendation is a huge problem and a major point of friction.

Or maybe you struggle with running a business properly and managing your money properly, or even just struggling to be profitable in the first place. Another Doctor friction point we often find is the challenge of finding the right staff, knowing how to effectively interview, being committed to ongoing and never-ending staff training and creating a culture that is laser focused on productivity and outstanding customer service. Or perhaps your friction is your health, your personal life, or that you don’t handle stress very well, or your energy and endurance is inconsistent, or even your clinical skill is a bit lacking, or maybe you’re indecisive or maybe even a chronic procrastinator. Maybe you start but don’t finish projects or haven’t stayed on top of what is best in class today. These are just a few of the thousands of possible points of friction that a doctor is going to experience.

And I’m certain that if you’re honest with yourself, you know I was talking about you when I offer these examples, don’t you? You may not have intended to or even realized it, but any or all of these points of friction has the potential to sabotage your results, your reputation, and your income. These examples of friction can cause you to burn out, give up, or seek chiropractic as a job instead of a calling causing you to lose your passion, purpose, and personal power. I could assure you that there are hundreds of additional points of friction slowing you down and holding you back, but the most important question is this. Is it possible for you to succeed or to express your potential or to feel the joy and fulfillment you were meant to feel every single day? If you’re not even aware of any of these examples of Doctor friction and how could you ever hope to reduce, eliminate, or correct any of these points if they remain invisible to you?
