Chiropractic Coaching: Patient Reactivation has Finally been Solved

Today, I want to share with you that the patient reactivation puzzle has finally been solved. So please listen and learn from this week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Masters Circle Global, where legends are made. And legendary practices are built through chiropractic coaching. I have yet to meet a chiropractor or a chiropractic assistant who gets excited to do recall and try to reactivate your patients.

In fact, it is the most dreaded ignored and dislike function of practice. And I bet you know that it is true that you have hundreds, probably thousand more inactive patient files than you do active patient files. So let’s talk about why you have so many inactive files and what you could do about them.

The reason why you have so many inactive patient files is because of what you’ve been taught to do to try to convince the patient. and convert your pain patients and symptom patients into lifetime care. It’s beyond ineffective, and it sets you and your entire practice up for frustration and failure.

Table talk alone just doesn’t create more lifetime patients. Telling patients you’re going to get to the root cause of their problem, like everyone else says, is also ineffective, frustrating, and out of touch. Yes, both of these are good to do, but neither transitions pain patients into lifetime patients.

If you want proof, look at how many inactive files you have. And if you pull the research card to try to get patients to stay, you’ll again be fooling yourself and you shouldn’t be surprised that that doesn’t work either. There is more research on the many benefits of exercise and healthy diet than anything you could possibly show them.

about ongoing chiropractic care. And that has not convinced most people to exercise or eat healthy. Of course, if you have been using the functional health management score, you would have given your patients a reason to stay. But you probably knew that also. So let’s get back to reactivating your dead files. And I’m sure you know why we call them dead files. If you can get people to answer the phone when you call them, which of course is getting harder and harder each day, and if you can get some to actually respond to your text message, which is also becoming challenging, you will occasionally get a handful of inactive patients tell you they’ve been meaning to call you and come back in.

Well, of course, coming back in for a visit or two is better than not coming back at all, but I’m sure you will agree with me that we would never call this a revenue bonanza. If you’re a serious player and truly want to grow your practice, you must ask yourself why these patients stop coming in for your care.

In the first place, and is there a better way? Well, we believe there is a much better way. And the response from the field doctors tells us that there is in fact a better way. Instead, they’re thinking, I need to know what I can do to raise and improve my score, how I can go from a failing test to a passing test. And common sense should tell you that when a patient reactivates themselves, it is always better and far more effective than you trying to reactivate them.

And as I often say, you must be willing to let go of the past to embrace the present, but more important to prepare for the future.

When you stop fooling yourself and wake up to what’s possible and recommit to your dream, being the best version of yourself, adapting to the changing times, restoring your energy, your certainty in your commitment. You also recession proof and future proof your practice.
