Welcome to this Week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Masters Circle Global where legends are made and legendary practices are built. Today I want to discuss completing the six essentials. If you haven’t completed it, you must be afraid. Very afraid. Listen, I know that change is scary when people don’t know their options or don’t understand those options. They always default to the status quo to doing the same old, same old thing. This is true for your patients and it’s true for you, my dear friend. We all have this inner conflict because in our genetic makeup we have this desire for never ending improvement to do better, to be more, to become more masterful, to grow and to expand. Unfortunately, the majority of us also claim to the status quo, to seek comfort, which neutralizes the desire to grow because we never grow by thinking the same thoughts or doing the same things over and over again.
All growth occurs on the other side of your comfort zone. This is a neurological phenomenon. As you know, your sympathetic nervous system, your fight, flight, or survival nervous systems, primary function is survival. Your brain knows that if you keep doing the same things over and over again, you’ve survived. And it also doesn’t know that if you make any changes, that it threatens your brain, cuz it doesn’t know for sure you’re gonna sub survive making those changes. So we live a life of being afraid of living a life of Groundhog Day and having a groundhog practice of practices doing the same thing over and over again day after day, week after week and month after month. So here’s the problem. If the rate of change outside of your practice is greater than the rate of change inside your practice, you are going to definitely have a problem.
You become the frog in tepid water that’s getting a little hotter each and every day until it boils alive. The innovators don’t live this way. The history makers don’t live this way. The pioneers don’t live this way and nor does the top one or 2% in our profession not live this way. It’s so very important for you to get that the world has changed, patient expectations have changed, that patients are far sicker today with more layers of damage than ever before. Financial plans have changed, and you must be willing to adapt, modify, refine, and update your thinking and your actions. We gave you access to completing the discovery form that we created to help you, to help you understand the new essentials for today’s practice, to help you realize what you now need to focus on to help you realize that it’s easier to
Change than to stay the same so that you can move in the direction of your joy and fulfillment, super growth, and becoming a proud member of the Million Dollar Plus Club. That’s the question you have to keep asking. Has the defaulting to the same old, same old enhanced your life and your practice? I think not. And I believe you think not as well. You do not have to throw your current practice out, you just have to update it. In today’s fast changing best in class model, the fundamentals have changed. The focus has changed, the business model has changed. Your ability to influence patients and staff have changed.
You need to change. The rewards could easily generate thousands upon thousands of dollars and thousands in how you feel about yourself. I can assure you that a few important but simple changes will change the game for you for the better and forever.
