Chiropractic Practice: Connection + Correction= Collection
Hello everybody and welcome to Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Dennis Perman and I’ll be your chiropractic coach for today. The subject matter of today’s Thrive in Five is connection plus correction equals collection. And this is a basic formula that everyone in practice must understand because if either connection or correction is not in place, then collections will not follow. So let’s talk a little bit about what we need to do to connect and correct. So first, the connection is the connection both inside yourself, between you and your purpose and the connection between you and the people that you serve. Not only your patients but your staff, your community, etc. So creating a connection is really based on an important formula that I call the relation equation, which simply says small R plus small V equals Big R. Or what does that mean? The small R stands for rapport.
The ability to generate a connection between you and somebody to be able to create a bond or a feeling of ease. Rapport is usually generated neuro mechanically by matching and mirroring and giving the person that you’re communicating with a sense of familiarity, even if it’s you. Now the other part of connection is connecting through values. What’s important. Now, you always wanna make sure to be congruent so that your inner values are being expressed on the outside. That’s the inner connection. But you also wanna make sure that you connect with other people who have similar values because those are the people who become your incredible patients. And you the bird dogs are gonna send lots of patients to you. So it’s important for you to use both rapport skills and values commonality to be able to create this connection. Now, once you have the connection, that’s great because now you’re gonna have the opportunity to serve people, but you also have to deliver on the other part of your promise.
The correction part. Correction in this regard means correcting yourself on the inside to make sure that you’re incomplete alignment, but also to be able to generate proper chiropractic technique and health and wellness technique so that you can actually deliver on your promise. Correction is very much a product of you learning how to get sick people well and help them stay well. And sadly, I talk to so many chiropractors. Many of them are using the same exact approach technically and clinically that they were using when they were getting outta chiropractic college. They don’t have 20 years experience. They have one year’s experience 20 years in a row. So it’s really important for you to continue taking courses to learn to find out what the new cutting edge techniques might be to help people get well. Now, if you connect with people through the relation equation, and if you are correcting people through your chiropractic technique, that’s gonna lead to collection.
Now, collection doesn’t just happen organically, automatically, it has to be overseen based on office procedures that you generate. So when you get this formula working properly, connection plus correction equals collection. Then not only will you be happy in practice because you’ll be connected to all these incredible people, not only will you be successful in practice because you’ll be delivering the corrections that people need, but you’ll also be massively profitable because this combination turns into collections A above your wildest expectations. So I urge you to pay attention to developing these three ideas in your practice and to remember that there’s always an inner part that happens inside of you and an outer part that happens between you and the people that you serve or the people that you work with.
