Welcome to this Week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Masters Circle Global where legends are made and legendary practices are built through chiropractic coaching. Today I want to discuss how many new patients per month do you really need to collect a hundred thousand or more each month? So many of our coaching clients collect a hundred grand or more each and every month, and you can as well. But first we must dispel a myth per perpetuated on our profession for decades, and it’s this, almost all dcs think that there is no possible way to collect a hundred thousand dollars a month unless you attract a never ending list of new patients month after month after month. And the key is just more new patients growing your practice, growing your income, and growing your impact has far less to do with 30 or 40 or 50 or 60 or a hundred new patients a month than you could possibly imagine.

It’s an illusion that the only way to grow your income is more new patients, and I hope that this Thrive in Five will at the very least cause you to reconsider. And more important to realize that collecting a hundred K a month and more can easily be done with less new patients. After working with chiropractors just like you for decades and collecting their practice statistics each and every single month, I see colleagues who consistently attract 40, 50, 60 or more new patients a month who do not come close to a hundred thousand collected a month. And on the other side, I see colleagues who only attract 15, 20, 25, maybe 30 new patients a month who consistently collect in excess of a 100K. My biggest chiropractic client who’s on pace to collect almost 9 million this year is averaging just 13 new patients a month. And I’m sharing this with you to dispel the myth that marketers who are trying to sell you on the single concept that a hundred new patients a month and their schemes to get there is what’s important.

As you have heard me discuss on many Thrive in Fives, people are far sicker today than ever before and practice is easier than ever before. The practice model that 98% of our profession is still using is out of date and ineffective. And what is considered best in class today is significantly different than what was best in class just two or three years ago. And in my opinion, the biggest problem our profession faces is the failure to adapt. Today’s successful business model is not about more and more and more new patients. It’s about charging a fee that’s in alignment with the amazing service you provide. It’s about the days of collecting 30 or 40 or 50 or $60 a visit has ended and the problem is no one told you until right now. In addition, even though specific chiropractic adjustments is and always will be the backbone of what you do, there are dozens of new technologies that can and should be used to help your patients get even better and even more complete clinical results way past just feeling better.

And based on new research and new technology, you can help all of your patients achieve optimal neurological expression, which was, is and will always be your primary goal. In today’s best in class business model, chiropractors like you are hiring and training assistants to function similar to what a dental hygienist does for the dentist to provide a secondary stream of healing and a secondary stream of income into your practice. These neuro hygienists provide services that are beneficial and this DC does not have to perform them, him or herself, but the real secret is better patient compliance and retention. The language of the brain and the language of the body is repetition. And today’s savvy practitioner recommends more frequent care for far longer spans of time with the sole purpose of retraining the brain and retraining the body back to balance homeostasis and optimal function. They understand and utilize the universal formula of frequency over time to train and retrain the brain and the body.
